Everyone knows that footballers often retire from the pro game to get their insurance payout. It means they can never play pro football again but they can at non league level.

When their injury heals sufficiently they can play at a lower level again, which puts less stress on the body.

If, however, Notman had been off windsurfing while declaring himself unfit for action I'm sure quite a few people would be getting on his back.

I should say that I've no idea whatsoever if Thorne has been windsurfing or not!
