It happens with all strikers (as you are suggesting)...

Thorne - cant turn it around

Svensson - turned it around eventually after the boo boys got on his back

Iwan - won the boo boys over after his first year

I'm sure if i have the inclination i could think of other examples. It's just that role as a striker - you are there to be shot at. It's an emotional thing - you sit there in the stands and see a (perceived) lack of effort from a striker, or lack of ability, and you have the frustration of not scoring a goal.

It's not rational - it is something that spills over from the match day - you come home thinking about the sitters Thorne missed, not the missed interception from Louis Jean that resulted in a corner
