Actually, I have hope with this upcoming generation

You and I are, I think, approx the same age? I'm 44 in a few weeks.

But talking to my daughter and her contemporaries, I believe they may have less of an uphill battle on their hands. Or maybe they're just a bit careful when talking to Lyndsey's Cantankerous Old Man, maybe she's prewarned them about the hazards of talking to me.

Yeh, they seem brighter and less selfish than my generation.

God, how many times have I seen my mates roll their eyes when I start to go off on one. Last year when a discussion on ID cards came up and I gave my opinion - one of the lads gets up to go to the bar and says "Nice one Al, it's been f**king years since you gave me a bollocking" and everyone laughed and cheered.

Yeh - I guess I've given up. Someone else's turn.
