Try four years on the dole, most of it on Disability, living by yourself and still keeping a car on the road because you can't walk. I managed to stay above the line - just - despite that life is structured to edge you towards debt. I lived on the very edge of Absolute Skint, only crossing it once when a cheque didn't clear in time: I had to BEG them to remove the charge. They did, eventually, after all my dignity had gone.

Absolute Skint is that financial situation beyond which there's very little chance of clawing back to just Very Skint: in Absolute Skint one ends up merely battling the deficit, to make it grow slowly instead of at a suicide-tempting rate.

I can't believe you're unaware of this. Are you just being deliberately gauche, or are you actually too well-off to have any idea of the state of the world you live in?
