Should think it's really tough to

deal with at that age. Old enough to understand and too young to deal with it.

Having said that we were very happy to send kids off to get killed by mustard gas, bayonets, bullets and exploding shells when they were only one year older.

Also tough for the teachers to get a good mix between being sympathetic to the kids, and being able to show their own shock and grief, while not over-doing it because they need the other kids to move on (mock GCSE time soon isn't it?).
