Here go:

"Football war" = an important game. Unfortunately, Nigel Worthington is to football war what Field Marshal Haig was to actual war. Inept substitutions, tactical aberrations and utter lack of ability to think under crisis on his part usually results in a football war defeat similar to that suffered by the Jacobites at Culloden, only slightly faster.
