Football in general is beginning to complain that

lesser nations shouldn't be playing top nations as the mismatch is obvious

Considering top nations are that, top nations, and in the history of football, are renowned for being pioneers and giants of the game

I personally don't see why any team that has won the world cup, should have to qualify for it again. They were clearly good enough to beat anyone at the time, they are clearly a good footballing nation. Why do they have to prove their footballing pedigree accross 12+ games every four years whilst their players play over 60 competitive games a season and don't need it

Italy have barely lifted a trophy labelling them the worlds best and 6 weeks or so afterwards are being told to prove themselves to compete in a major tournament in europe
