I'm sure we were (and are) trying to do just that too

you are merely judging him as "trying to do something different" on the basis of talk. But talk is cheap. What is he actually DOING differently? Is he spending more money? Playing more entertaining football? Revolutionary tactics maybe? Haven't seen any signs of any of those. He can talk and try all he likes (and good luck to him) but without the money his prospects don't add up to much.
