it will if we change some of the team it will disrupt continuity, but surely not if we change the WHOLE team.

In that case the "first" team will simply play two games, one week apart, together (as is normal in a football season). Total continuity. The cup game won't disrupt their continuity in the slightest because they won't be involved. If, however, some of them ARE forced to play with other (fringe) players then surely THAT will disrupt their continuity?
Either change no-one or change everyone is the best bet continuity-wise
