I don't think Worthy has been given a big transfer kitty...

Because the board have already given him money for long-term transfer targets.

He had wanted Etuhu for a year. He tried to sign Johansson three seasons in a row. He fought tooth and nail for both Jarrett and Hughes (both players were offered multiple contracts by their clubs). Etc, etc.

It's not the fault of the board that Worthy has failed with his chosen players. Worthy now needs to replace players that he brought in himself.

The whole "I like him, we have put in phone calls" and the following "We can't afford players I want" is all Worthy just trying to make the board release more funds.
