Good music is good music, but ...

... A good band makes good tunes. A great band changes music, or is at least original. Blur are frequently cited as a great band because they apparently make original tunes.

However, the early stuff taps into the late 'baggy' stuff (well after the event), they were a few steps behind in the mid-90s (a lot of their stuff, especially 'Parklife', just sounds to me like a more mainstream PWEI/Carter USM), and the stuff on the Blur album just taps into Beck, Pavement, Sebadoh and a few other American artists (Jeff Buckley in places) and makes it more mainstream-acceptable.

So they have some good tunes, which makes them a good band (although a lot of s**t ones, so maybe a passable band). But they don't set trends, they follow them. So not great. And definitely massively over-rated.

Btw, are you making many of the games next season?
