Like many sports and particularly bat and ball ones, it needs time and some explanation to understand and appreciate - no different to cricket. There is subtlety in the different pitches available and their selection by the pitcher and catcher, how managers deploy available players, both pitchers and batters over the game or a series of games. There is also athleticism in batting, running and fielding, though there is room for the less athletically built, Toronto's Mexican catcher Alejandro Kirk is (relatively) chubby and slow around the bases, though a top class catcher and powerful batter.

It is to rounders what the Championship is to a playground kick about.
