French school protests

I see a lot of commentary about the type of people protesting in France. Lots of international commentators droning on about left wing activists, etc.

Dont lose sight that this is a student led protest.

My son is at French high school. He has to wake up at 5 in order to get the bus to start school at 8. 4 days out of 5 he has to work at school until 6. Therefore he gets home tired very late and then has to do it again in the morning.

the standard of teaching is very poor and abenteeism within the teaching staff is very high. French high school teachers are very poorly paid.

The buildings are falling apart and there is no air-con, and often no heating in winter.

Yes they get longer holidays but the students days are crazy long to make that possible.

Of course nothing is going to change. The teachers unions wont let it happen. And there is no money to change things, France is bankrupt.

France is in a terrible position and it is going to get progressivly worse until the new President takes over in 6 months or so.

And then things will really fall apart.
