I don’t think holding a minority shareholding really does add a voice

Not in the context of a company with one majority shareholder that can push any decision through regardless of the trust’s views.

My view would be that either the club cares about the trust’s views, which it should, or it doesn’t. But that doesn’t turn on it being a shareholder. So realising the cash and putting it to good use seems sensible
