Portugal 2-1 Croatia. Wow, what a game. I'm sure most of you stayed up to watch as it was exciting from the start, Portugal dominated the early parts of the match and surprisingly failed to score. Croatia took the lead and could have gone two up, Ronaldo scored a superb offside goal and then was given his standard penalty (corruption from the money boys).

That a 94th minute winner for Portugal isn't what this match will be remembered for tells you the story. Croatia scored a remarkable equaliser that was ultimately scrapped because the ball touched a hair on an attacker's head as it was flicked on to a man in an offside position.

As ever, the pundits and commentators all seemed confused by what was going on, some saying "I can't be sure that ball touched his head", totally ignoring the fact they have technology in the ball now. Others questioning why the the ref had to go to the monitor. It seems being paid handsomely doesn't make these people do their research on this stuff, which is odd as it is 95% of the stuff they talk about these days.

Ronaldo was subbed towards the end with the scores level, to the dismay of the commentator, who suggested this might be the end of his World Cup career and implying that it was controversial to not give him a say in the rest of the match. Ridiculous.

Algeria v Swiss. It was 2-0 to Switzerland. Should have been more. Don't bother.
