I think you miss the point because you over-state the importance of the manager

The two that everyone criticised him for in advance - picking Walcott and Hargreaves - plainly weren't.

Having Bent or Defoe ahead of Walcott would have made no difference.

Hargreaves was our best player when we finally lost.

And then the rest just all gets very controversial.

He should have played Crouch? Well the sense I got was that not many people would have done that.

He should have dropped Lampard? Maybe. Big decision to make though.

He should have dropped Beckham? Likewise - and remember he made or scored the goals that got us to the QFs.

It may be convenient to blame it all on Sven, but it's mostly boll*cks.
