I'm not necessarily arguing that touting in football is wrong. Just saying that there's no earthly reason why selling live8 tickets on is wrong.

you can just about argue that when a tout sells a play-off final ticket on for ?200, there's probably a regular somewhere who went to crewe away but can't afford ?200 now. And somehow that feels wrong.

but with live8, there can be no such objections. People who protest can't be doing it on behalf of the poverty-striken in Africa, because they're not affected. I assume it's some sort of objection to anyone making a profit out of something designed to help people.

Which is ironic, given that I think most people who work in the field are finally recognising that fair trade (which relies on the profit motive!) is the best way to help poor countries in the long run, not aid.
