there is a difference
the reason touting is generally a problem in football is that we tend to have a sense that tickets for big games should go to the loyal supporters, who've been going every week. If touts get their hands on tickets, it means the club have failed to get those tickets to the 'right' fans (at least in most people's eyes).
whereas with live8 there are no 'right' people to get the tickets. In fact as far as I can see, touting can only help the charity, as they will just have been some extra people texting in. (Unles you think they put other people off texting in - which I can't see why they would have.)
