Occam's Razor is simply that:
(a) Trump is a deeply unpopular president who will attract attempts on his life.
(b) The Trump administration is not stupid and knows this
(c) The Trump administration is fully prepared for an attempted assassination, and has its talking points ready to roll
Social media has jumped on the false-flag narrative but I don't think they have any need to create one - there will be plenty of actual attempts out there, so they only need to wait for it to happen. (Or allow an identified one to happen, if you really want to speculate and go full Andor).
