the whole world is a ridiculous farce nowadays. paolo zampolli...

Paolo Zampolli is an Italian-born businessman and former model-agent who became part of the New York social and business scene in the 1990s. Through his modeling agency and connections, he moved in elite circles that included real estate figures, celebrities, and future political leaders.

He is best known publicly for his long-standing association with Donald Trump. Zampolli is widely credited with introducing Trump to Melania Trump in 1998, helping launch her career in New York. While he played a role in her early professional network, claims that he directly handled her immigration are exaggerated—those processes were formal and handled through legal channels.

Over time, Zampolli remained close to Trump and, during Trump’s presidency, was appointed as a U.S. special envoy to the United Nations (focused on global partnerships). His diplomatic role reflected his access to political networks rather than a traditional foreign service career.

Zampolli has also drawn attention because of the circles he moved in during the 1990s and 2000s. Like many figures in New York’s wealthy social scene, those circles overlapped with individuals such as Jeffrey Epstein, though there is no strong public evidence that Zampolli had a significant or operational relationship with Epstein beyond that broader milieu.

More recently, he has been the subject of controversy involving his former partner, Amanda Ungaro. Reporting, including from The New York Times, indicates that Zampolli contacted a senior U.S. immigration official after Ungaro’s arrest in Florida during a custody dispute over their son.

Ungaro was subsequently held by immigration authorities and deported to Brazil. She alleges that Zampolli used his influence to keep her detained and gain leverage in the custody case.

Zampolli denies intervening in that way, and U.S. officials say her detention and deportation were based on her legal and immigration status. The extent to which his contact affected the outcome remains disputed.
