A lot of people down after yesterday, which I get as we’re fans

But my god, I saw that defence and shuddered. Our two weakest CBs, neither good on the ball, Fisher out of position, and Gibbs out of position. That looked to me like a recipe for disaster. I fully expected us to struggle moving the ball around at the back, and we did. The plan was clearly for Kenny to drop into all sorts of positions to compensate, but it didn’t really work and we looked disjointed, slow and uncomfortable on the ball. We nearly got away with it, but Pelle’s magic finish at both ends probably led to the fairest outcome.

It looked like a squad that was out of juice after loads of injuries and lots of international minute and travels. PC has masterfully papered over whatever cracks he’s had to face, but yesterday was a bridge too far. Closer to full strength and well rested, we win easily. But the championship schedulers stuck in that mad Good Friday slot and from point on, it was what it was.

Big ask to get everyone ready for Monday too, against a Millwall side that will really really be up for it.
