Marginal decisions are accepted in other sports without too much question and only the occasional show of frustration. It could be the case in football as well.

I have no real issue with VAR as a concept, I think ideally it’s the perfect solution. But if there’s subjectivity in the laws of the game (penalties and fouls, for instance), imposing a system to remove that subjective nature is going to cause debate and argument. Therefore I’d only have it for ball issues and offsides and leave the judgement calls to the ref. A limited and timed review system might not be a bad shout either.
