Jeff Winter is on 5 live a lot, and I couldn't stand him as a ref
but he's been spot on with just about everything he's said
He mentioned that every referee implemented the laws of the game so that fifa would be obeyed
Yet straight after the portugal game, the refs changed the way they reffed cos blatter had a strop about his own ideas. That then meant all the teams before were at a disadvantage because they had the yellows waved in their faces, and the other games tackles were allowed to be let go
I liked the England ref yesterday, I thought his attitude was "screw fifa, im doing this my way", and he did, he could have booked Hargreaves within the first 20 minutes, he'd done about five fouls by then, enough for persistent infringement, but he just kept giving the freekicks
Lampard went in late on a portuguese player and it was just a foul. Both players had an understanding of what was allowed and not, and the game flowed brilliantly
The heat got to Rooney and he stamped on someones bollocks, and he got sent off. All this fuss about Ronaldo is nothing to me. Rooney was the only yesterday that was spoiling for something, and he was dealt with
The game was going to penalties with 11 against 11 anyway
