But there aren’t GCSEs in football club management. He spent a long time in public life, as a public figure, at a high level, in charge of large budgets. The party he represented isn’t relevant. To have been involved in the sport itself at any level, likewise, isn’t actually relevant either. I’d argue that a relevant qualification *could* be supporting the team and / or being local, however. Being or having been CEO of other companies certainly doesn’t guarantee success - ample evidence and many examples are testament to that. So I’m not sure that he was a worse person for the job than any other, solely based on his experience and qualifications. But that’s my opinion, and as we’re talking opinions…
