...unfortunately the ref DID send him off for the push on Ronaldo - if you watch the ref's reaction he doesn't make any movement towards his pocket until the 'push'.

What the ref now has on his side, as he does the paperwork, is the opportunity to watch the entire incident again from different angles...and has a get out of jail free card to rectify the mistake to send him off for nothing more than handbags.
