But I remember it happening to others. In particular one boy at prep school, he’d have been under 10 I think, getting a proper skippering in front of the whole class by a geography teacher and then made to stand in a chair facing us all. He was a tough boy (for our standards) and I noticed that he was trying very hard not to cry. Scared the crap out of me. Totally inappropriate punishment looking back at it.

Remember the cane being used very occasionally at Norwich School on absolute delinquents, but it was always in private.
