Having not read the article, i think their point is...

Chanting about 6 fingers or incest, or claiming someone is a paedo might be unsavoury but is essentially somewhat harmless as everyone knows its untrue.

Whereas Jimmy Saville has untold numbers of real life victims whi experienced horrific trauma and therefore it is akin to tragedy chanting.

I didnt really think of it like that but having heard the argument, i think its a fair point
