I don't suppose he killed Huntley because

he's such a very good person that he could no longer contain his moral outrage. He was just a dangerous thug who found a victim he could kill barbarically whilst at the same time claiming some sort of justification/ praise. There are plenty of people about who enjoy a bit violence of one sort or another under the guise of being in the right.
