It always struck me as there being too many pubs around those
two junctions, what with The Cricketers (closed I think), Ber Street Gates (God knows how that's still open), Freemasons , The Rose, and Kings Arms. Throw in Arkwrights (by heck, not half) and that's a lot vying for trade.
