A slightly alternative thought

that's been running through my head for a few days.

We often turn to work during tough times and think it's helping us get through, and then suddenly, you realise that you've actually not been really as clear thinking as you might have been, and that the distraction actually wasn't the answer - grief is still there, work has been done but you've not really done as well as you might have done if all had been normal.

Sorry - I'm clearly no expert, but just know how I've been post bereavement - thrown myself into something and then just had those moments of realisation that it's not helping either me, or the people I'm working for. And I've never lost a child. Maybe there's something hitting him that we're not seeing, and maybe he's not seeing it either.
