My first replica shirt, the Adidas home shirt from the early 80s

I was only 11 or 12 so obviously it doesn't fit me now but I've kept it safely packed away. Unfortunately our dog got it about 20 years ago and chewed the collar - not massive damage but enough to make me upset. I suppose a 'Repair Shop' type place could fix it?

In 79/80 we were on holiday in Cromer during carnival week. A local sports shop (can't remember the name sorry) had a float and was short of people on it so my Dad volunteered me. They gave me an adult-sized Admiral shirt and a bag of sweets to chuck out and sent us off through the streets on the back of a lorry. I remember getting water & flour thrown over us which surprised me, being in Norfolk.

At the end they dropped us off just outside town where my Mum & Dad met me. I was telling my Dad how much fun it was, he was trying to lead me away and then I remembered I still had the shirt on so I ran back to the float and gave it back.

I think my Dad was trying to make sure I kept the shirt (I don't think the sports shop were that bothered wanting it back) but I was being too honest. Big regrets I didn't keep that iconic shirt. I dread to think what it'd be worth today, not that I'd sell it.
