Sarge has spoken about staying at NCFC

Josh Sargent believes he is in a 'good spot' at Norwich City after battling with interest and constant transfer speculation this summer.

The American international is now set to stay at Carrow Road until January at least with Wolfsburg coming closest to landing him during the summer before Sargent pulled the plug on a move that would have been worth £22m.

Links to Burnley, Leeds and Sunderland also became public, but Sargent opted to remain at Carrow Road as he seeks a strong goal-scoring season leading into the World Cup.

Speaking for the first time on a dizzying summer, the 25-year-old admits he was forced into making decisions over the summer with the focus being on his family as well as his football.

"There [was] interest from multiple clubs," Sargent told Prowire Soccer. "Obviously in the end it didn't work out, but that's football sometimes.

"There's quite a few things going on. A lot of decisions had to be made, not just for myself, but for my family overall. I think I'm in a good spot at Norwich. I'm at a place where I know I can score goals, which of course is important going into the World Cup.

"I've had a good start to the season, so hopefully I can continue that form all throughout the season and keep scoring goals."

Sargent has made his return to Mauricio Pochettino's USA squad after being omitted from their Gold Cup squad earlier this summer.
