Fair enough, but

Belgium actually finished THIRD in their pool but went through because there were 24 teams, reduced to 16 for the second round, and the best four third-placed teams went through.

Meanwhile, Denmark are beating Uruguay 6-1 and everyone says they can make the final.

Spain then beat Denmark 5-1.

Belgium then beat Spain.

Downright circuitous silliness if you ask me.
