well this is somewhat reassuring...

UAF paratroopers practicing a large scale airborne assault from what looks suspiciously like C17 globemaster. got to wonder which european nation provided the airlift? (it won't be the usaf btw and it's a long haul from australia/middle east). also, the fact that there are already lads airborne and some on the deck when the filmed plane makes a pass suggests at least two aircraft were utilised. from the stacks it looks like this is the third plane.

there hasn't been a proper large scale strategic airborne deployment of paratroopers into a hostile zone since the us dropped 950 troops into northern iraq in march 2003. the reason it is so rare is because modern air defence systems pretty much rule this kind of high risk caper right out.

the fact that the ukrainians are even practicing this sort of thing suggests (and why do it if just for show?) that russian air defence is pretty much exhausted (it is) and if the ukrainians do manage to do it inside the occupied territories it suggests a billy big bollocks massive level of military confidence.
