I'm an optimistic man.
Which may explain things.
Rooney doesn't need to be as fit as a lone striker. He can't charge about to get the ball back and make chances as there's no one to make them for. He's got to be strong and sharp, not capable of running a marathon.
Gerrard and Lampard have both shown their effectiveness individually at getting in and around the box. Do that together and it could be devastating.
Hargreaves will need to play out of his skin though and not pick up bookings either or it's Carragher in there and we've no right back at the moment.
Personally, i'd drop Beckham. Him and Cole together make us too narrow for a 5 man midfield. You've then got Lennon's pace to to break into the box as well as beating the left back.
In summary, it's a coin flip. Will either work spectacularly or we'll peter out relatively quietly.
