Netanyanhu doesn't want the war to end. If it does he will be held accountable for the security failings and also the corruption trial he was facing. The war is is only escape, irrespective of the human cost.

On the land issue, Israel continues to illegally occupy land and has accelerated this recently. Watch Louis Theroux's recent documentary on this.
