Flew in Sibierskis back in ’65 during the battle of la Drang Valley. Me and ‘Shetland’

Tony were seconded to HSC-12, a helicopter combat support squadron, mainly doing maintenance of some of the bolts near the rotors and cleaning.

November 15th saw us called up to join the Yanks on a black op to disrupt the PANV supply routes in the Central Highlands of South Vietnam. We were woken at 0400. Shetland and I had been out the night before and got absolutely w**kblitzed on a heady cocktail of Vietnamese Olives and Foolish Powder. Shetland had swamped his pit so slept most of the night on a thin shelf which had a Zippo on it. We were airborne by 0419.

Westmoreland had instructed the First Cavalry Division to establish landing zones near Plei lao Tchin and P’Rang. As we flew over Lang Xom, we suffered bird strikes from a flock of Crested Argus and Blue-Rumped Pitta. Shetland leaned out to check the rotors and lost his footing, slipping on the contents of an old M Unit, he fell, right out the side over Chu Prong.

Some Chinese walking t**ts found him in 1987 in Plei Rongol. He was living in a 1958 plate Chien Thang, and had inserted 167 items of cutlery into his anus.
