‘If you don’t attempt to play like Barcelona of the Xavi, Ronaldinho era, you are not worthy of playing in any kind of football competition’. Football matches can be won with various styles of football and often a team will need to adjust this from match to match and within matches. It is completely unrealistic for any champs team to think they can be wedded to the possession based style of play, win enough games to go up, and the same again to stay up in the prem UNLESS they do a Forest and spend beyond PSR rules to buy a whole new squad. Champs teams are starting from soooo far back compared to prem teams how do they seriously think they can match them and out compete them by going toe to toe with that style.
Lamberts Norwich team was successful because it was built grit, hard work, fitness, passion, belief and not a desire to be fashionable and covert the coos of studio pundits
