I wouldn’t guarantee it but the point you make on winning duels is an interesting one. We won’t be able to ‘avoid duels’ in the English championship. We’ve been looking for someone for years to play that role. Hopefully this is a learning in terms of style of play. You can also keep possession, but in the right areas, and vary the play.

But these are style of play principles for the head coach to address. For the sporting director, recruitment for improving the team in the immediate term. Wright looks a good player, Fisher has done well. I can see the potential in some of the recruits but we’ve got to make immediate improvements for us to be ready by the time we kick off in August.

It will be a key summer for certain.
