it’s being paid at the average rate for the length of the contract.
Shohei Ohtani’s contract-$700m over 10 years is paid at $2m for each of the 10 years and the remaining $680m over the following 10 years, to keep the LA Dodgers close to the luxury tax threshold. Ohtani will more than make up the $68m over the first 10 years with endorsements.
