thats why it sounds strange to me.

they have ground staff to look over the pitch during the season prepare it for match day and really only 60 games a year thats almost 1 per week so it is not over played on and surely they would spot weed on a weekly basis for any ugly growth such as meadow grass. its not like its st andrews golf course in size. i didnt see the pitch this season was it in bad condition at the end of the season, ie different shades of green or was it completely bare? the real problem was the meshing with artificial grass which needs sand to stop it wearing away and the real grass wont grow in the sand no matter how much water you dump on it
