Danny Batth... Why he is the replacement we had lined up
Based on both much but I suspect we had as number of targets ready to work on in the time left.
However, most of them would likely have involved thrashing out deals with other clubs and players who those clubs would also need to seek replacements for. We would also need to arrange a complicated medical for reasonably expensive young players (a medical for a 1 year deal free transfer is much less obviously).
The time had near enough passed, the expected (hoped for) offer had not arrived, and Omobamidele was in Rotherham with the squad.
We had no time at all and options were limited.
The critique (if even true) would be if we would still a valuable player that late, wouldn't someone else? Still, high stakes when we could be left with 3 CBs
