Just don't really agree with what you're implying.
Charlie was unfairly dropped in the prem, but bringing him back this year would've just blocked a more established player (flem, or two players who are likely to be around for a while yet & should be settled in the side -Doherty/Shackell).
Gotta view stats with suspicion (especially player heights on soccerbase, which always look a bit fanciful).
But in honesty I don't think that malky/doc/flem are/were the commanding central defence presence that Charlton was referring to in his statement.
