Times has a piece about Delia’s deep fried jam sandwich, not a euphemism

Be it cranberries or eggs, when Delia Smith has something to say about a food then sales are sure to rocket. Could the deep-fried jam sandwich be next?

The 82-year-old celebrity cook has added the treat to menus at one of her restaurants and she says that it has to be tasted to be believed. She first tried one at a fish-and-chip restaurant in Holt, Norfolk owned by the chef Eric Snaith.

“When we first saw the deep-fried jam sandwich on the menu we were a bit sceptical,” she told the BBC. “But the friends we were with ordered it and so did we. The rest is history. The only way we can describe it is, think doughnut — only even better.”
