We give them a chance to show what they can do, but don't stand in their way if they do well and a bigger club comes in for them.

If we stood in their way, I think that would put players off.

Also, I would be very surprised (although it's certainly possible) if Webber hadn't already had the conversation with Andy O and his agent before making those comments. Presumably when the big offer came in during January, the conversation with Andy O was not now, but if we aren't promoted, he can go in the summer if a suitable offer comes in.
