It’s easy to slag off recruitment in hindsight

but when they signed nobody knew that Pukki and Buendia would be a success whereas Rashica and Tzolis wouldn’t. Depends on many factors, not only ability, but coaching, playing style, teammates, acclimatising to a different club/city/country/continent/diet/lifestyle, and of course luck, and then momentum.

Although that doesn’t alter the fact that yes, recruitment has been abysmal!
