I was at the other major sporting occasion in London that day
Chelsea beating us 2-0 at Stamford Bridge. The first game of a not very memorable season.
I also saw Malcolm bowl a couple of times, at Edgbaston. Fuck, he was quick. If you weren’t close to behind the batsman or bowler’s arm, you couldn’t see the ball. The distance the wicketkeeper stood back was incredible.
