I don't even think it needs to be a defensive midfielder

it needs to be someone that's comfortable receiving the ball in a tight space, who has a first chance that gives them space and some vision to make a forward pass.

If whoever is in that role just passes it to the CBs or the FBs, we'll always have that problem against better opposition.

What I mean is, if we had someone like Leitner say, we'd be immediately better whereas Tettey would exacerbate the problem
