Helps me make sense of what I've been watching.
And for coaches is just a tool to assist their planning. A good manager still needs that instinctive awareness, experience, and trust in his players, to know when a statistically high % play isn't the best thing to do at a given moment against a particular match up (and vice versa).
The time to worry is when UK match reports shift from an emotional narrative of the flow of a game to a litany of statistics (see: US match reports). I don't think we're anywhere near that point, thankfully.
