I don't think we were hopeless.

Just too many similarities with that stagnant period after going down in ‘95 for my liking. There’s an overconfidence that we’d get promoted after having done it before, a man in charge who thought he could carry in without learning from mistakes (I know Chase and Webber had different jobs, but …), manager churn, lost our best players without adequate replacements (Buendía, Skipp, Sutton, Fox), and more.
